China, up to surge with 'BeiDou system'...

China, say - head over heels, or the other way around, it seems is trying to prove that it can do without the American satellites; yes, China no longer wants to rely on the United States of America for the Global Positioning System (GPS), which is primarily a military navigation system...

Be it time information or location – for lines of latitude and longitude..., in any weather condition, with a GPS tracking system, you may never lose your way. Well my husband who works for Coulson Organisation has no such problems he now has a BlackBerry with GPS and Wi-Fi...(smile!)

...and, no wonder, why the system is considered the 'backbone' in air traffic control and navigation...! Roger, hope you got the message 'right', ha!

Well, of China, the efforts to end dependence on the U.S. GPS began way back in the year 2000; and lo, China definitely came up with an answer to GPS through their home-based BeiDou system - navigation test satellite...that provides services to users in China...

Now, about some of the Asia-Pacific regions, well, they can anticipate services from BeiDou (Big Dipper) by year 2012...; but sources corroborate that, for others over the orb - they may perhaps have to wait for it, till year 2020.

To support BeiDou, China has already 'set in motion' ten satellites; another six are awaited in the line, by next year; further news is that the system will ultimately constitute 35 satellites, to be used for various sectors, viz. meteorology, telecommunications, and fisheries, to name a few.

And, before we fill up – about the 'self-made' China, more space programs are on the go, as, readers may get to see more of China in the coming years...
